Veneers for Teeth
Veneers for teeth are thin porcelain shells bonded
on the surface of the teeth to correct stained, chipped, or
misaligned teeth.
Veneers are more cosmetic in nature that greatly
improves the look of your tooth after bonding.
Veneers for teeth are like false fingernails on
your hands. It looks like real teeth, but it’s actually just a coating
to improve the appearance of you teeth.
The main purpose of veneers is to improve the
appearance of teeth that are damaged. Since, the end result that we
want is for you to enjoy your smile; placing veneers for teeth can be
quite tricky. Don’t worry though as we have skilled cosmetic dentists
here in Mexico that can handle the job very well.
Let’s look at some situations where dental veneers
might prove necessary.
Stained teeth - staining on teeth can come to a
point that conventional whitening procedures or prophyflex treatments
are not effective, a veneer may come in handy and give you back that
perfect white teeth you are longing for.
Damaged teeth - damage on teeth in the form of a
chip or break can be repaired by veneers. We can quickly cover your
chipped and broken teeth with veneers that match the color and
characteristics of surrounding teeth. Gaps in your teeth can easily be
closed with veneers so you could smile comfortably. For misaligned
teeth, veneers are not really the first choice of correcting the
problem. Although for teeth that are not severely misaligned, a veneer
can be placed over the surface of a tooth which gives the illusion of
aligning it with the surrounding teeth.
The process involved in placing veneers usually
takes a bit more time. Of course, we make sure that what we put in is
based on your concerns and inputs.
The first thing our Mexico dentists would do is to
prepare the front surface of your tooth; using a dental file, a thin
layer of the front surface of your teeth will be filed and shaved off
and if necessary, we will apply local anesthetic so that you won’t feel
a thing during the procedure. All we do here is just to
reshape your tooth so that when the veneer is placed, it will look
exactly as the rest of your teeth.
We will then take an impression or mould of your
teeth to make sure the veneer is conforms to the surrounding teeth. In
most cases, these moulds are taken to a lab where they fabricate your
veneer. This usually takes about a week; once your veneer is ready, it
will be tried on, reshaped and trimmed if necessary. If you are
satisfied with the fit, then our dentists will fit it in permanently.
After thoroughly cleaning and etching your tooth,
to roughen your tooth's surface, the veneers are cemented into place,
shone by a curing light so the cement cures quickly and bonds the
veneer and tooth. Our Mexico dentists will then trim any excesses and
polish the veneer for fitting and comfort.
Once the veneer is placed, we need you to take
care of it just like any other tooth. Good oral hygiene will allow it
to last for a very long time. As an additional advice, do avoid biting
hard and sharp objects to avoid breakage, avoid clenching and grinding
your teeth as well.
Veneers for teeth lasts about 5 to 10 years
depending on your oral care and hygiene, also, it is important that you
visit your dentist regularly to check the condition of your veneers.
